Summary

This paper outlines key constraints to increasing private climate finance in emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs) and details the IMF’s experience in supporting countries in this endeavor in the context of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). The IMF has been playing a catalytic role for climate finance in RSF countries through 1) macro-critical policy reforms, 2) capacity development activities, and 3) its convening role. The experience of the climate finance roundtables highlight the critical need for a coordinated approach across country authorities, development partners, and private stakeholders.
